# Qwen API — answers and search results from Qwen's China web chat

> Ask Qwen, Alibaba's China web chat, a question and get its answer, the search results it read and its search queries.

`QWEN` asks Qwen's web chat at qianwen.com, the China service, with its web search on and no account or login involved.

## Response

| `markdown` | string | The answer as Markdown. Returned without any flag. |
| `model` | string | The model Qwen answered with, when known. |
| `searchQueries` | string\[] | The searches Qwen ran. |
| `sources` | array | The search results Qwen read: `position`, `url`, `label`, `description`, `siteName`, `publishedAt`. |
| `images`, `videos` | array | Media shown with the answer, when there is any. |
| `rawResponse` | array | Stream events. Only with `include.rawResponse`. |

`publishedAt` is the date as Qwen shows it, not an ISO timestamp. The answer text carries no citation marks: `sources` lists what Qwen read, not what it cited.

## Include flags

| Flag | Effect |

| `rawResponse` | Adds `rawResponse`. |

`markdown` needs no flag. `searchQueries`, `ads` and `shopping` have no effect. `analysis` is rejected with `422 VALIDATION_ERROR`, `citationAnalysis` with `400 VALIDATION_ERROR` and `html` with `422 EVIDENCE_UNSUPPORTED`. See [Markdown and raw responses](/engines/response-options.md).

## Answer language

Qwen chooses the answer language itself. A prompt in English, French or Spanish can come back in Chinese. To get an answer in a given language, ask for it in the prompt, as in the example above.
